Hello all,
I hope you are enjoying your long weekend and taking some time honor those we have lost for this Memorial Day. The weekly plan can be found HERE. This week you should continue working on your final project with more emphasis on in-depth research, evidence/data gathering, and solidifying a plan for the product/presentation piece (approx 2 hours). Thanks to all who reached out to work with a partner, questions about appropriate topics, and any concerns about time management. I am so thrilled with the ideas you have come up with! Even though I am not overseeing your projects in person, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I will receive your AP Exam responses tomorrow and will get grading right away. I am eager to read what I am sure are a lot of stellar responses :) Stay safe & keep learning. We are in the home stretch! Ms. Belur

Good morning!
Weekly plan is attached HERE First, let me say how proud I am of each of you for finishing your AP exam! Even as the guinea pigs on day one of testing it sounds like most of you were able to power through! For the remainder of the school year, you will be working on a civic engagement final project. This project will take the place of your final exam. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of concepts from the class in a productive way. You can find the assignment description on the weekly plan. Please make sure you read through the whole thing and submit your option choice by Thursday. Feel free to email me or use office hours for questions. Best of luck to those of you taking AP exams this week. We are in the home stretch! Ms. Belur Good morning & happy exam day!
The weekly plan is attached HERE. Pretty straight forward this week. I want you to be able to take a breather after your exam, and I know many of you have other AP exams this week, so just find some time to unwind with a good AP Gov movie :) Reminders for Exam Day:
Best of luck. You got this. Ms. Belur Good morning and happy ONE WEEK countdown to the AP exam!
Weekly plan can be found HERE. This week is solely dedicated to exam review that you all requested in the GoogleForm last week. If you were unable to join the meeting on Friday, or have yet to watch the meeting recording, I recommend you do so here or in the Files tab: https://web.microsoftstream.com/video/883c0a85-4e68-40a9-99fb-0af07d622cfb. I go over my recommendations for review and helpful notes for the exam. All of our review meetings will be held in the “AP Exam Review” channel on Teams, so make sure you enter the correct channel to join the meeting. As mentioned last week, many of our review days will go over the allotted 25 minutes per day. That being said, it is up to each of you to make a decision about how you want to engage in review. Some of you have requested more practice prompts & responses for FRQs. An awesome resource is “Timely, Topical, Tough FRQs” at CitizenU.org And in case you are losing track of the days...Next Monday is the big day!!!
Missing you all. Stay safe & keep learning! Good morning everyone,
Happy week 2 of remote learning! Here is the link to our weekly plan: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pn7nG6ET8PCnapmSVKZYpHt4C1mZ9EtUnyccu2mbWso/edit?usp=sharing This week we will be doing our final review of the argumentative and concept application FRQs. Please make sure you find the time by Thursday afternoon to fill out the GoogleForm about exam review, because next week is dedicated to what will help YOU the most. You should also note that the weekly plan will now delineate "essential assignments/assessments" that will be considered toward your S2 grade. *A note about grading: As I am sure you saw, the district released information last week about how grading will work during the closure. To help you make sense of how grading will impact you in AP Gov, here is a bulleted list of the most important info. If you have any further questions or clarification please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Good morning everyone!
Below is our plan for the week. Please note that we will be using Microsoft Teams quite often for meetings and assignments, so if you have questions about how to use Teams please don't hesitate to reach out. You can find our team linked here. This week we are focusing in on writing the argumentative FRQ which will be the first FRQ on the AP exam this year. There are several resources for you in the "Files" section of our Team. You will be completing two practice FRQs this week which will be submitted and scored. Excited to get back to learning with you all! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZR6JGqPnxu8NYwIMiTi6U1cWeovSDsBK9HURbKjijEs/edit?usp=sharing -Ms. Belur Hi folks, Attached is your new plan for the week. Pretty straight forward for this week. I would like you all to finish up the civil liberties work and get started on Ch. 9, civil rights. There are several podcasts and videos for the week so be sure to engage with those if you choose. Remember, a key part of this unit are the required Supreme Court cases, so make sure you are keeping up with reviewing each of those. Because next week is spring break, I will not be sending out an official weekly plan. I have linked to the PPT for the next chapter (9) if you would like to extend your learning. We will move through civil rights in a day or two, so it may be helpful to look ahead. After spring break, we will have three weeks dedicated to AP exam review. It is critical that you start to seriously engage with the material if you have not been. Starting on April 20th, this review work will be submitted and graded. We are going to have you ready to test on May 11th and all the work that you have put in this year will finally pay off! So that brings me to AP testing...If you did not see the updates, the AP Gov exam is scheduled for May 11th at 1pm. The exam will consist of the “concept application” FRQ and a shortened “argumentative” FRQ. Since we have spent quite a bit of time on the concept application FRQ, we will dedicate more review to understanding the argumentative response. I am SO confident you all got this! As we are preparing to move into review-mode, please keep a list of questions/topics that would be helpful for me to go over again (only Units 1-3). Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep learning! Miss you all. -Ms. Belur
Hello again wonderful students, Happy Monday! I really can’t get over how much I miss teaching you all. I was so thrilled to get some student emails last week with updates about your lives. I love hearing what you have been up to, big decisions about post-high school plans, and current political questions, so please keep them coming! Since it’s the start of a new week, you know that means…new AP Gov material! This week we are moving into one of my favorite subjects—civil liberties. This officially begins our final unit, and it consists of a bunch of super important REQUIRED Supreme Court cases. The plan for this week begins with an introduction to civil liberties and then an in-depth look at the First Amendment protections of religion, press, and speech. Throughout the class PowerPoint you will notice there are some additional cases that I think are interesting to explore, but only the cases in bold red are the required cases to know. On the website you will find a page on the “Resources by Unit” tab, called “Required Supreme Court Cases”. You should use these case descriptions to summarize each case in your KBAT notebook. They are also hyperlinked on the weekly plan. Feel free to email me with questions. A few other things:
Good morning AP Gov students, First off, let me say how much I miss being in the classroom with you all! Like I told you before we left, this truly is some of my favorite content to teach and I genuinely miss interacting with each of you. I hope everyone is staying safe and doing your best to keep you minds sharp. Ok, here is the plan. Each Monday I will send out our “Plan for the Week”, with optional resources and lessons to keep you all engaged and ensure you are prepared for the AP Exam. This info will also be accessible on my website. You can find the first weekly plan attached Regarding AP testing, we will get more info from the College Board on April 3rd, but we do know that the exam will be FRQ only and will cover Units 1-3. On Wednesday 3/25, College Board will be hosting live review on their YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/advancedplacement). This would be a good resource to flag for future use! As always, please reach out with questions or concerns. I am here to make you successful!
Good morning,
As many of you may have already seen, the College Board issued an update on testing and Coronavirus this morning. Long story short, students will be taking an at-home, 45 minute, shortened exam. We are still waiting on clarification on types of questions and tasks that will be asked. You can find more information about exam changes and your options here: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/coronavirus-update. Starting on Monday 3/23, I will be sending out weekly lessons and resources for students to stay on track to prepare for the exam. This will include optional readings, videos, and review assignments. These assignments will not be graded, nor required, but I would encourage you all to complete the work as a way to ensure you are ready for the exam. I am 100% confident we can get through the remaining content from the course and have you ready to test in May! Please look for an email with more guidance coming Monday and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you all for your flexibility in these unprecedented times. Stay safe. |
