Today we began Ch. 3-Federalism by discussing the advantages of federalism and exploring some of the policy areas that cause disagreement in a federal system. Tomorrow we will discuss the eras of federalism.
Homework:
Ch. 1-2 test tomorrow! Make sure you understand the general structure of the Constitution as well as the major provisions that addressed the power of the federal gov't and the states. If you were absent you should look over the FRQ tips attached below. If you still have questions about the FRQ process that we went over today, don't hesitate to reach out.
Today we wrapped up content for Ch. 2 by going over the process for changing the Constitution. Great class discussions all around! The chapter PowerPoint is up on the resources page if you want to begin reviewing the test. Monday we will go over FRQ writing and play a review game.

Today I lectured on the 4 principles of the Constitution. If you were absent, you will want to get notes from a classmate. Reminder that I will be gone tomorrow and as you are watching the video, you should jot down notes/questions related to the class discussion for Friday. We will frame the discussion around Jefferson's idea that "The Constitution belongs to the living, not the dead."

Today we went over the hunt through the Constitution and discussed the politics of ratification. Tomorrow I will lecture on key principles of the Constitution and the process to amend it.

Today we had our first current events discussion and used the rest of the class period to continue working on the "Hunt through the Constitution" assignment. You will have 15 more minutes of work time tomorrow, but if you did not accomplish much in class today you may need to work on the assignment at home. We will discuss the answers tomorrow, so don't stress if you can't find a few.

TGIF! Today we looked at the origins of our republic and began our "hunt" through the Constitution. Make sure you know the 3 areas of disagreement among our founding fathers and the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. Have a great weekend!

Today we explored what is means to be a good citizen and began to analyze some of the divisions in American in 2017. Tomorrow we will continue our discussion about the factors causing division and how we can avoid these attitudes in AP Gov.
