Today we explored the concept of party realignment and the question of whether 2016 fits the model. We also discussed third parties and their contributions to our political system.
Homework:
Today we began Unit 3-The Electoral Process which encompasses chapters 8-9 in your textbook. We will be covering political parties, campaigns, and elections. Tomorrow we will finish up the last couple of minutes of "Journeys with George" and begin discussing functions of political parties.
Homework:
No current events due Monday. Make sure you complete your KBAT's and study for your Ch. 6-7 test. Powerpoints for the unit are on the resources tab.
Enjoy your weekend! Documents for class on Thursday:
Be sure to watch the debate tonight! If the program you have been watching for your media project is not on because of the debate, you should try and watch some pre or post debate commentary. Watch the same channel that you have been and see what they are saying about the debate. That will be sufficient for your TV news source tonight!
Today we began looking at the media and its influence on public opinion. As you continue with your media projects this week, think about the Trump campaign's narrative of a rigged election. Do you buy it? Is is potentially problematic?
Homework:
What an exciting Friday it was! Sorry to hear about Homecoming being cancelled, but stay safe! IF YOU WERE NOT IN CLASS TODAY, PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU NEED TO START ON THE MEDIA PROJECT ATTACHED BELOW! For this project, you need to choose one print source and one television source to follow for 5 consecutive days. When choosing the newspaper, please make sure it is a national paper (not the Issaquah Press, etc) and when selecting a news program please make sure it is a specific show ("The Kelly File" or "The O'Reilly Factor", not just Fox News). Also NO current event due Monday since you will reading/watching news all week. Make sure you complete the readings and questions on polling that was assigned yesterday.
