Today we began looking at civil rights through the 4 court tests/standards for discriminatory laws and policies. Tomorrow we will discuss the struggle for civil rights beginning with women.

Today in class we discussed current events and finished up the first amendment by covering petition and assembly. We also explored the implied right to privacy and the 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms.
Today in class we discussed the freedom of speech in the First Amendment. Next week we will finish up civil liberties and move on to discussing civil rights.

Today in class we finished up our discussion of religion in the First Amendment by covering the Free Exercise Clause and the freedom of the press. Tomorrow we will begin to tackle free speech.

Below are some of the videos I have shown in class the past few days that you may find helpful as well as an additional review of judicial activism vs. restraint. Today in class we discussed how cases reach the Supreme Court and how the Court does its work. Tomorrow we will continue to explore which cases are granted a writ of cert and how SCOTUS interacts with other branches.
